MATCH WORDS AND OBJECTS LESSON PLAN

LEVEL 1

OBJECTIVE:  Developing vocabulary through object identification in www.piclits.com is fun, interactive, and engaging.  Students and users can both increase their vocabulary and hone their word choice by dragging and dropping words from the word bank to the object in the photograph.  

This will allow emerging writers to focus on choosing vivid nouns to identify objects,  This is the foundation of good descriptive writing.

We will learn how to “choose the right word “by using pic-lits.

MODELS OF OBJECT IDENTIFICATION ON A PICLIT:

In this object identification piclit, you can see that the writer has:

-chosen the right words from the noun word bank in drag n’ drop mode to identify key objects in the photograph,

-combined nouns “toy bear” and “rottweiler dog” to further specify the object

-developed the foundation for a description of place writing pattern

GUIDED PRACTICE WRITING PROMPT:  

  1.  Go to piclits.com
  2. Sign in with your e-mail and password
  3. Select a picture from the gallery of pictures
  4. In “Drag n’ Drop” mode, drag the nouns to the right object in the photograph.  Try to combine nouns to bring further definition to your objects, as seen in the model piclt above.
